Course Description

Program Description The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program provides students with the opportunity to study subject areas relevant to health career programs at Fanshawe College and to instill an appreciation of the professional roles, responsibilities and academic requirements of health care disciplines. The goal of the program is to prepare students for their chosen health career program. Admission to the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program does not guarantee admission in a subsequent year to any College program. Successful completion of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program, however, does enable the student to be given additional consideration when applying for one of the following programs in 2019-2020: Dental Hygiene Massage Therapy Medical Radiation Technology Paramedic Practical Nursing Respiratory Therapy Dental Assisting The Dental Assisting (Levels I and II) program will prepare a student to be an entry-level practitioner, capable of working interdependently and collaboratively with health professionals in a variety of practice settings. The graduate will be able to assume a variety of roles including clinical, education, health promotion, business administration and laboratory assistant, consistent with national and provincial standards and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
